For freelancers and small businesses in Germany

From quote to paid invoice, in one app

Rechnu helps freelancers and small businesses in Germany get from quote to paid invoice: quotes and invoices in one app, PDFs in five languages, and the mileage log built in.

No payment details at sign-up.

Sound familiar?

Retyping the quote

The client said yes, and the lines from the quote get copied into the invoice by hand.

Invoices from a Word template

Number, date, tax rate and totals are yours to check, every single time.

Trips in a notebook

Kilometres to clients and job sites pile up on scraps of paper until the tax return is due.

What Rechnu does for you today

Quote becomes invoice

One click turns a quote into a draft invoice, with the line items carried over.

VAT per line

Line items with discounts and 0, 7 or 19 % VAT. For small businesses under § 19 UStG: no VAT shown, with the note printed on the invoice.

PDF in your client's language

PDF with your logo, bank details and signature. Pick the language on each download: German, English, Arabic, Turkish or Kurdish.

Know who still owes you

Every invoice is draft, sent or paid. Overdue invoices are listed on the dashboard.

Fix mistakes the proper way

A numbered cancellation invoice or a correction invoice, instead of deleting an invoice.

Mileage log in the same app

Start and stop a trip by GPS or enter it by hand, and the road distance is worked out. €0.30 per km is preset and editable; export the year as CSV or PDF.

Numbers for your accountant

Export document lists and line items as CSV, ready for Excel.

The app in your language

Rechnu runs in German, English, Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish, with Arabic and Kurdish right to left.

Questions and answers

What does Rechnu cost?

You can start for free. Rechnu asks for no payment details at sign-up.

Do I need e-invoices, and does Rechnu create them?

Since 1 January 2025, businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. Invoices to other businesses in Germany have a transition period: until the end of 2026, paper invoices and, with the recipient's consent, other electronic invoices such as PDF are still allowed; in 2027 only for businesses with at most €800,000 total turnover in the previous year (§ 27 (38) UStG). Small businesses under § 19 may keep issuing other invoices (§ 34a UStDV), and invoices to consumers are not affected. Rechnu creates PDF invoices today, not e-invoices in XRechnung or ZUGFeRD format.

I'm a small business under § 19 UStG. Does Rechnu fit?

Yes. With the § 19 UStG small-business setting, Rechnu shows no VAT and prints the note on the invoice.

Which languages can the invoice be in?

The PDF comes in German, English, Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish. You pick the language on each download; the labels are translated, and your own line-item text stays as you wrote it.

How does the mileage log work?

You start and stop a trip by GPS or enter it by hand. Rechnu works out the road distance, presets €0.30 per km (editable) and exports the year as CSV or PDF.

Does the checklist replace a tax adviser?

No. It summarises the required invoice details in § 14 (4) UStG and § 34a UStDV. For your own case, ask your tax adviser.

  2. Your tax number or your VAT ID (no. 2).
  3. The date of issue (no. 3).
